Three people were killed and eight others were injured when multiple gunmen opened fire in a crowded person Brooklyn Authorities said the hookah lounge and restaurant early Sunday morning.
Police responded to reports of shootings in the Crown Heights city lounge before 3.30 a.m. New York Police Department (NYPD) Commissioner Jessica Tisch said in a press conference later Sunday.
All three people killed were men and were pronounced dead at the scene. Police said there were two aged 27 and 35, and it was not known how old the third victim was.
Tisch added that out of the 11 victims, eight were male and three were female. Their known age ranges from 27 to 61.
Eight injured victims – five men and three women were taken to a local hospital, which police said was life-threatening injury.
“We have multiple shooters involved in the shooting,” Tisch said Sunday. “We have recovered at least 36 shells.”
The officer recovered a weapon near the shooting scene. But investigators have not immediately identified or detained any suspects.
Tichi pointed out that he wanted to say New York Manchester City registered “the lowest number of shootings and shooting victims in seven months of a year… with records on record”.
Still, she said: “It’s a terrible thing.”
“It was a horrible shot,” Tisch added. “There is no other way to describe it.”
