Watch: How the Trump-Puding Summit unfolds in 82 seconds

U.S. President Donald Trump left Alaska with no deal to end the war in Ukraine after a high-stakes meeting with his Russian rival Vladimir Putin.

Trump told the world media after the meeting: “It was not until an agreement was reached,” adding that “great progress has been made” but “we did not get there.”

On his flight back to Washington, he held a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who later said he would travel to Washington on Monday. European leaders are also calling.

Despite shining at the summit – Trump is confident that he can reach a ceasefire, there is no real progress in resolving the Ukrainian war.

Each stage of the leader’s arrival at the joint base Elmendorf-Richardson is carefully orchestrated.

Putin, who faces an International Criminal Court arrest warrant for alleged war crimes in Ukraine, took off his plane and boarded the red carpet and was warmly welcomed by Trump.

Amid the roar of the B2 bomber, the two leaders posed for photos and then boarded Trump’s presidential vehicle, known as the Beast.

But despite the feast and public goodness – and earlier estimates by the Kremlin, the meeting could last six to seven hours – Trump and Putin appeared less than three hours later, making only a joint statement to the media.

Putin said that in order to make a “lasting and long-term resolution, we need to eliminate the root causes of the conflict in Ukraine.”

The quote shows that Putin has not stood out from his long-term position that Ukraine should abandon its efforts to join the NATO military alliance from four regions that Russia partially occupied – Donetsk, Luhansk, Hosen and Zaparishiya.

Zelensky ruled out retreating from four fighting areas, warning that this would open Russia’s courageous Russia for another future offensive. Moscow launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine three years ago after annexing the Crimean Peninsula in 2014.

Putin also urged Ukrainians and Europeans to “not put wrench” into the peace process. Trump has remained silent as his guests spent about eight minutes speaking to the media.

The U.S. president said he had a wonderful relationship with Putin President Vladimir, who switched to the name of the Russian leader.

He said even though “many points are agreed”, “and some”, adding that “one is the most important” – there is no specifying what that key sticky point is. No questions were asked.

The two have not participated in the bilateral “work lunch” planned after the speech.

After the meeting, an interview with Fox News provided some additional details.

Trump told host Sean Hannity that the meeting was “good” and added: “Maybe we will get good results”.

Enter the Alaska Conference, Trump threatens “very serious consequences” If his Russian rival disagrees to end the war. He said he would impose 100% secondary tariffs on the remaining trading partners of Russia if a peace agreement was reached with Ukraine within 50 days.

But Trump has questioned these threats about Fox News: “We don’t have to think about it today.”

“Maybe in two weeks, three weeks, but the meeting went well,” he said.

When asked about possible trilateral summits, including Zelensky, Trump said: “They both wish I was there, I would be there” without giving a date or location of the meeting.

The apparent absence of the Alaska meeting was the Ukrainian leader, who, like Putin, had caused a series of reactions since Trump returned to the Oval Office.

The two were on a long flight back to Washington, D.C., before other NATO leaders, including British Prime Minister Sir Kyle Starmer, joined the conversation.

Zelensky said he will travel to Washington on Monday to meet with Trump, who supports Trump’s proposal for a trilateral meeting.

He noted that “positive signals from the United States involve participation in ensuring Ukraine’s security”, which was requested by European allies and part of a comprehensive effort to prevent another conflict.

Those in Ukraine Maybe sigh No deal on Russian territory was reached.

But they may also be shocked, and Putin continues to use rhetoric aimed at proving the invasion of the original target – to dismantle Ukraine as an independent state.
