president Donald Trump A new directive that allows the Metropolitan Police to disclose information to federal immigration authorities about whom they park in traffic is a step in the right direction, said other cities may face similar policies.
Police Chief Pamela Smith approved the order Thursday, with Trump moving to the federal government to bring police forces in the country’s capital and mobilizing 800 National Guard troops to address crime in Washington.
“You’re talking about it’s a very positive thing,” Trump told the new order Thursday. “When they stop people, they find that they’re illegal, they report to them, give us etc. It’s a very positive thing.”

“I heard it just happened,” Trump said. “It’s a great step. If they do that, it’s a great step. Yes. I think it’s going to happen nationwide. We want to stop the crime. I think if the Democrats aren’t strong on this issue, they won’t be able to do it.”
The order means Metropolitan Police can share detailed information about their interactions with U.S. immigration and customs law enforcement officers.
In addition to Trump, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem Earlier Thursday, the success of the new order was also praised.
“That means that once they meet someone who commits crime, they share it with Ice and we will be able to bring these illegal criminals out of this country and we will make the United States safer,” Norm told Fox News on Thursday.

Now that Washington’s Metropolitan Police Department has been federalized, it is still under the authorization of the Attorney General Pam Bondi.
In case of emergency, temporary takeover of the Metropolitan Police Department is allowed. But Trump’s move could be questioned in court if the situation in Washington is in line with an emergency.
The National Guard began arriving in Washington on Wednesday. These units are reserves that respond to state and federal operations, usually in accordance with orders from their state governments.
Trump has deviated from norms and mobilized the National Guard from California to respond to immigration riots in June. By doing so, he bypassed California Governor Gavin Newsom.

However, Washington is different because the federal government oversees the District of Columbia National Guard.
