Wayne Rooney aired a commentary in a recent documentary, Wayne Rooney returns to Tom Brady, a documentary that portrays their short spell to work together in Birmingham.
Legendary NFL quarterback Brady is the champion of seven Super Bowls, Built in Birmingham: Brady and Bruceask Rooney, the manager at the time. “I’m a little worried about the work ethics of our head coach,” Brady told his business manager Ben Rawitz. “I mean, I don’t have a good intuition about it.”
It was a brief, brief and frosty encounter between Rooney, the five-time Premier League champion and Manchester United-record scorer and Brady, who then attended a meeting with the team. Rooney was fired after two wins in 15 games. Brady serves as the Blues Training Complex as a minority owner and as an advisor to majority owner Tom Wagner.
“We’re working on making it a world-class team,” Brady said in the introduction series that started with the Blues’ relegation from the championship game. Rooney, rebooting his media career with a resurgence BBC affiliate podcasthas his say.
“I think Tom went in once, and that was the day before a game, and the days were a little lighter anyway, and I don’t think he really knew football very much. But what he really understood is…he was a hard-working guy – we know.”
Rooney defended his brief spell in the second city, saying, “When I entered Birmingham, they were really in trouble. So the players weren’t really the ones who could really move the club forward. You got Tony Mowbray, Gary Rowett to follow me and they struggled.”
It was also heard that Brady called Birmingham players in the 2023-24 relegation sport “lazy and qualified”.
The documentary’s brief meeting in both appears to be two former athletes taking the next career step and struggling to find each other’s wavelength. “Football is not the NFL – the NFL works for three months a year. Players also need rest, so I think he’s very unfair and he comes out and paints that.” Brady, as a serial champion, will play the season from September to February.
Rooney last season under a brief and swift halted management rule at Plymouth, Blues advanced to the championship under Chris Davies for a record 111 points after a huge spending. Rooney is pleased to provide credibility for this revival.
