X boss Elon Musk has threatened Apple to take legal action after claiming the app is “impossible” that the app competes with Chatgpt-Maker Openai in its App Store.

He called Openai Boss Sam Altman a “scammer” after Altman claimed Musk used his platform to “benefit himself and his company.”

The bank is the latest flash point in the ongoing dispute among the billionaires who co-founded Openai – but now Musk has left the company and is now competing fiercely.

Apple announced a partnership with Chatgpt in June 2024 – but it was not recommended that Apple prefer another app than another, and several competitor AI apps such as DeepSeek and Cllexity have surpassed App Store Charts since then.

The BBC has contacted Apple.

In a later post, Musk once again targeted Apple, asking the company why it did not promote X or AI App Grok in the “must have” section of the App Store.

“X is the number one news app in the world, and Grok is the number five of all apps,” He said in the post Now fixed on his X profile.

Chatgpt is currently the most downloaded free app in the UK, with nearly one-third of Grok. X won’t be in the top 40.

This seems to have caught Altman’s attention, which is linked to a report from Tech Newsletsletter Platformer that claims Musk makes his personal X posts stand out in people’s feeds.

Over time, the dispute between Musk and Ultraman included numerous lawsuits, email dumps and social media mining.

Their competition goes back a decade, and Musk now believes that under Altman, Openai abandoned the principles he and others found in 2015.

The company was created to build artificial general intelligence (AGI) – AI that can perform any task humans can perform – but by making its technology open source and hopefully “beneficiaries.”

Openai was also set up as a nonprofit company, meaning it won’t make money, but in 2019 it established a for-profit division, which Musk believes is the opposite of its original mission.

Musk argued in a March 2024 lawsuit that the company has been focusing on “maximizing profits” for its major investor Microsoft.

And he Unexpected drop Last year, Openai subsequently filed a counter-claim against him in April.

It claims X owners are engaged in “uninterrupted” in “bad faith strategy” Trying to slow down the company’s AI development.

Openai also claims Musk is motivated not by retaining the company’s founding mission but by its “its own agenda.”

The dispute did not stop simply by words and deeds and legal proceedings. In February, Musk was shocked to try to buy the company for $10 billion (£7.4 billion) – a bid rejected by the Openai board of directors.
