“He has been arrested under 41.1 CrPC. He will be handed over to the police for further investigations,” said ACP (Crime) Ravindra Yadav.
Sai was first traced from Pipli village near Kurukshetra. “He was being followed from Ludhiana by a team of DCP Kumar Gyanesh and ACP KPS Malhotra and finally nabbed on Delhi border in the early hours of Wednesday,” a source said.
Sources said that a 30-member crime branch team left for Ludhiana after getting a tip-off of his whereabouts.
Strategically, the teams on the highway were positioned at various diversions for plugging the possible escape routes. Acting on the tip-off about the probable vehicle, one of the team intercepted the Ford Eco Sport SUV at a refuelling station.
Narayan Sai was in the vehicle along with 3 more persons identified as Ramesh, 27, who was the driver, a juvenile, who was the cook and Kaushal alias Hanuman, 29, a disciple.
Kaushal is also named in the FIR along with Narayan Sai.
Preliminary interrogation has revealed that at the time of the registration of FIR, Narayan Sai was in Jaipur and left for Agra immediately after that. “Next day he came to Delhi in the early hours to meet some notary. He stayed at a ashram in Naimi Saran, Sitapur where he altered his looks,” said a source.
After that he briefly stayed in Thane, Maharashtra, Walsaad, Gujrat, Udaipur and Rajokri Ashram in Delhi. He reached Ludhiana about 20 days back where he stayed at an accommodation provided by a businessman.
